Corporate Governance - Business Policies
Supplier Diversity
It is the policy of Pepco Holdings, Inc., and its affiliates (collectively, "PHI" or the "Company") to maximize contracting opportunities to suppliers within PHI's service territories.
PHI's purchasing policies include the expansion of contracting opportunities to small, minority and protected class businesses. Protected class businesses include those owned and operated by women, veterans, service-disabled veterans and historically underutilized business zones (HUBZones).
It is the responsibility of all PHI employees involved in the procurement processes to ensure that qualified small, minority and protected class suppliers are appropriately included in the competitive procurement process for both goods and services and to comply fully with all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, regulations, agreements and orders relating to the inclusion of small, minority, and protected class businesses in procurement of goods and services.
What Does this Mean at the Company?
Supplier Diversity and Strategic Sourcing work together to expand opportunities for small, minority and protected class businesses and collaborate with the lines of business to assure compliance, competition and enhancement of PHI's corporate image.
PHI recognizes its responsibilities to the communities it serves and the customers with whom it conducts business. One of PHI's strongest assets is the diversity of the customers and business communities it serves. Leveraging these assets to achieve corporate objectives is good business and helps strengthen the regional economies. In addition, PHI recognizes the value that PHI's supplier diversity brings to the Company.
