Frequently Asked Questions
New Jersey
Q | How do I become accredited as a Third Party Supplier with Atlantic City Electric?
A | As a Third Party Supplier, you must be licensed with the New Jersey BPU in accordance with BPU regulations and procedures.
Third Party Suppliers must also be certified with PJM, i.e. have executed the appropriate PJM and FERC applications, credit reviews and agreements that are appropriate to the levels and types of business you plan to conduct with PJM.
After these two conditions are met, in order to become eligible to participate in retail access in the company's electric service territory, the TPS must be registered with Atlantic City Electric. This process is fully described on this Web Site, under How To Register
As part of the registration process each TPS must complete and mail the Electricity Supplier Application Package and provide the required documentation mentioned in the application. The mailing and shipping addresses can be found under Contact Information.
Q | How does a TPS obtain historical usage data for a customer, prior to enrolling the customer?
A | The first and preferred option is to request this information directly from the customers. Note that customers can request this information from Atlantic City Electric by requesting an Enrollment Package or by calling the Retail Choice hotline at 1-800-967-6800. Historical monthly usage is also available, free of charge, through the 867hu EDI transaction.
Q | How does a TPS obtain historical interval meter data for a customer?
A | Historical interval meter data is available through Energy Profiler Online. This Internet-based tool provides easy access to interval data for Third Party Electric Suppliers.
Q | Do customers receive a single bill or two bills: one from Atlantic City Electric and one from the TPS?
A | Under New Jersey regulation, the Third Party Supplier will provide all customers the opportunity of choosing either the one (1) or two (2) bill option.
Q | Whom do I contact if I have other questions or problems related to Electric Choice?
A | Please contact Supplier Relations.
