Pepco Cited for Leadership in Minority Business Development

Thursday, December 23, 2004

Pepco Holdings, Inc., a Fortune Top 50 company for best workplace diversity, has been honored by minority business owners in Maryland and the District of Columbia for its strong commitment and support of minority business development and supplier diversity.

The Maryland/DC Minority Supplier Development Council cited Pepco at its annual meeting earlier this month at which individuals and corporations were honored for their leadership in advancing opportunities for council members.

“Minority businesses know which companies truly have supplier diversity programs in place and which programs are just smoke and mirrors,” said Angelina Goodwin, chairperson of the council’s Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee and president of Innovative Marketing Solutions. “Pepco contributes so much to the minority business community and this has not gone unnoticed, as evident by the number of votes the company received for this prestigious award.”

Rhonda Gebicke said in accepting the award for Pepco that “this recognition is an affirmation that the work we do has a direct and positive impact for minority businesses in the region.”
